Privacy policy
What we collect when you use this site or book classes, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Two things to do before this goes live
The policy below reflects how Taqwa Foundation actually operates, and the fields listed match the live booking form. A qualified adviser should still read it once, since children’s data brings COPPA and the UK and EU rules into scope.
The booking form does not yet carry an explicit guardian-consent checkbox. Add one, so consent is recorded rather than inferred from the act of booking.
Taqwa Foundation trades as a DBA registered in Texas, USA, at 17214 E Stratford Pointe Dr, Sugar Land, TX 77498. Questions about data go to the site administrator at [email protected].
What we collect
When you book free trial classes, the form asks for:
-
Who is booking
Your first name, and your last name if you give one.
-
About the student
Date of birth, gender, and which course you are interested in.
-
Contact details
Email address and phone number, both required, because we confirm by email and by SMS. Also your city, state, zip code and country.
-
What you would prefer
How long you would like classes to be, how many a week, whether you would prefer a male or female teacher, and anything you write in the comments box.
When you use the site, we use Google Analytics and Usermaven to understand how the site is used, and advertising pixels from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest and X so we can measure and target our advertising. These set cookies in your browser. Because some of them are not essential, visitors in the UK and EU are asked before they are set.
When you contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp, we keep that correspondence. We keep it for about a year, after which it is cleared.
When you apply to teach with us, we collect what you send in your application, including any recitation sample. Unsuccessful applications are kept for about a year and then deleted.
Information about children
Our students are mostly children. This site is not. It is written for parents and guardians, and no child books a class, holds an account, or contacts us through it.
A guardian does the business; the child does the learning. Every minor is enrolled, booked, paid for and communicated with through their parent or guardian. In our entire history one person under age signed themselves up, and that is the exception that shows the rule. Our marketing is aimed at guardians, never at children.
What we hold about a child. First name, age, level, their teacher’s notes on how classes are going, and a class recording only where a guardian asked us to make one. No address, no school, no browsing history. We do not build a profile of any child.
Who it is never shared with. No child’s information goes to an advertising platform, an analytics profile, or a data broker. Not now, and not on any learning platform we build later.
Contact. Children are never contacted outside a supervised live class, teachers hold no child’s contact details, and a guardian is welcome in any class at any time.
Your rights as a guardian. Ask us what we hold about your child, or ask us to delete it, at [email protected]. We answer within 72 hours, and a recording is deleted as soon as you ask.
Why we use it
-
To arrange your classes
Matching a teacher, scheduling around your timezone, and sending confirmations and reminders by email and SMS.
-
To make the welcome call
A member of our team calls after a booking to confirm details.
-
To take payment once classes begin
Payments are handled by third-party payment processors, which differ by country. Card details go straight to the processor and are never stored on our systems.
-
To answer you when you get in touch
And to send you news about classes, if you opted in when you signed up. Every message carries an unsubscribe link.
Who we share it with
Your data reaches: the class platforms we teach on (Zoom, Skype and Google Meet), WhatsApp, which is how most day-to-day communication happens, our own self-hosted CRM, our payment processors, and the analytics and advertising platforms listed above. Your teacher also necessarily sees student information, and almost all of our teachers work from Pakistan.
We do not sell personal information. We use it to provide classes and to market our own classes, and for nothing else.
Where your data is held
Data is held in your own country and in Pakistan, and nowhere else.
Our teachers are contractors based in Pakistan, and they access student information from there in order to teach. They do so under confidentiality and data-processing agreements, and only through our own systems. Student information is not stored on a teacher’s personal device or account.
How long we keep it
We keep records for about a year. After that they are reduced to a name, a contact number and what was studied. You can ask us to delete everything at any point, and we will, except where the law requires us to keep something.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it in certain ways. Parents can make these requests on behalf of a child.
To make a request, contact [email protected]. We will respond within 72 hours.
If you are in the UK. UK GDPR applies. You may access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data and object to how we use it, and you may complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
If you are in the EU or EEA. GDPR applies, with the same rights, and you may complain to the data protection authority in your own country.
If you are in California. The CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be treated worse for asking. We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have.
If you are elsewhere in the US. Several states give similar rights. Ask us and we will honour them rather than argue about which line you fall on.
Cookies
This site sets non-essential cookies for analytics and advertising, so visitors in the UK and EU are asked to consent before they are set, and can change that choice at any time. Our cookie policy lists them.
Any learning platform we build
We may one day run a separate platform where students do classwork, on its own address rather than inside this site. If we do, the same rule holds, and we are writing it down now so it binds us later: student data is used only for teaching, never for marketing, and is never shared outside Taqwa Foundation.
Students on such a platform would not be advertised to, profiled, or measured for marketing. Enrolment, payment and formal communication would stay with the guardian even where an older student has their own login.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Where a change is material we tell active families as well, rather than relying on you to notice a new date.
