Online Islamic classes: tafseer, aqeedah and the daily practice, taught 1:1
Reading the Quran and understanding what you are reading are two different studies. This is the second one.
Our Islamic classes cover tafseer, the explanation of the Quran’s meaning, the basics of belief, the fiqh of daily worship, and the life of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Taught live and one-to-one, like everything else we teach.
What we teach in these classes
Tafseer
The meaning of the Quran, surah by surah, at the level you are ready for. Most students begin with juz amma, because those are the surahs they already read in prayer and the ones where understanding changes the most. You will cover what a verse says, the situation it was revealed in where that is known, and how scholars have understood it. Where scholars have differed, your teacher will tell you so rather than presenting one view as the only one.
Aqeedah, the basics of belief
The articles of faith, taught plainly and without argument. What Muslims believe about Allah, the angels, the books, the messengers, the last day, and the divine decree.
Fiqh of daily worship
The rulings you actually use: purification, prayer, fasting, zakat and hajj. Practical rather than theoretical, and taught with the everyday questions people are too embarrassed to ask in a group.
Seerah
The life of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in order. Where he was, what happened, and what it asked of the people around him.
Almost everything taught here is agreed on across the schools of fiqh. Where they differ, we teach the difference rather than one position, so a student understands why scholars disagreed rather than only what one of them concluded.
Who these classes are for
Adults who can read but were never taught the meaning. You finished the Qaida as a child, you read regularly, and you have never studied what any of it says.
Parents who want to answer their children. Your child asks why we pray at these times, or what a surah is about, and you would rather answer properly than approximately.
Reverts and new Muslims who need the practical basics before anything else: how to pray, what is obligatory, what is recommended, and why.

How the classes run
- 1
Book two free classes
Tell us your age, what you want to study, your timezone and preferred times. No payment details are taken.
- 2
We match a teacher
Someone with formal training in the subject you asked for, not a general Quran teacher. A member of our team calls to confirm the details.
- 3
You start where you actually are
There is no set term and no fixed syllabus to keep up with. Your teacher plans around what you already know and what you want to understand next.
We recommend at least 45 minutes for these subjects, because the material needs room, and 30 minutes is our floor. Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, or WhatsApp, in your timezone, with times you can readjust whenever life changes. Sit in whenever you like.
Where this sits alongside our other courses
Islamic classes are the understanding side of what we teach. The reading side runs in parallel, and most students do both.
| If you want to | The course is |
|---|---|
| Read the Quran at all | Noorani Qaida course, then Online Quran Classes. |
| Recite it correctly | Tajweed course. |
| Understand the words yourself | Quranic Arabic, which teaches you the language. |
| Understand the meaning explained | These classes, which give you a scholar’s explanation. |
| Memorize it | Hifz / Quran Memorization Program. |
The difference between Quranic Arabic and these classes is worth stating plainly: Arabic teaches you the language so you can understand the Quran yourself. Tafseer gives you a scholar’s explanation of the meaning. Many students eventually want both, and there is no wrong order.
Who teaches them
These classes are taught by teachers with formal training in the Islamic sciences, not by general Quran teachers. They are huffaz who have studied hadith, the seerah of the Prophet ﷺ and the lives of the companions, and who hold the certification required to teach these subjects.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to read Arabic to take these classes?
No. Tafseer classes are taught in English, with the Arabic read aloud by the teacher. If you would like to read it yourself, that is what our Quran classes are for, and many students do both.
Is this the same as a Quranic Arabic course?
No. Quranic Arabic teaches you the language so you can understand the words directly. These classes give you the explanation of the meaning. Different studies, and they complement each other.
Which school of thought do you teach?
Around ninety-nine percent of what we teach is agreed on across all four schools, so the question rarely arises. Where the schools differ, we teach the difference rather than picking one for you.
Can my child take these classes?
Yes, at the right age and with the material pitched to them. Seerah in particular works well with children. Tell us their age when you book and the teacher will place them.
Can I study just one subject?
Yes. Many students take tafseer only, or fiqh only. Tell your teacher what you want and that is what you will study.
Do you teach women separately?
Yes. Female students can request a female teacher, the same as on every other course. See classes with female teachers.
What if I have never studied any of this before?
That is the usual starting point. Nothing here assumes prior study, and no question is treated as too basic.
