Cookies
What cookies this site uses and what you can do about them.
Finish this after the build
The tools are decided and described below. What is missing is the exact cookie names and how long each one lasts, which can only be read off the finished site. Scan the staging build to produce that table.
Consent is handled by the SureCookie plugin, which blocks non-essential scripts until a visitor opts in and keeps the consent records. Run its scanner on the finished site and paste the results into the table below.
What a cookie is
A small file a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others watch how the site is used, or follow you to other sites to show you advertising.
What this site uses
This site sets non-essential cookies, so visitors in the UK and EU are asked to consent before any of them are set. Here is what they are for. FILLER: paste the SureCookie scan of the finished site here, one row per cookie: name, who sets it, what it is for, how long it lasts. Everything else in this section is confirmed.
-
Essential
The cookies that make the site work: one that remembers your session, and one that remembers whether you accepted or rejected the others. These do not need your consent, but we list them anyway.
-
Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Usermaven to see how the site is used: which pages people read, how they arrived, and where they give up. These need your consent and are not set unless you give it.
-
Advertising
We advertise, and we measure whether it works. That means pixels from Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google Ads, TikTok, Pinterest and X. These follow you to other sites and are the reason the consent banner exists. Reject them and the site works exactly as well.
-
Embedded content
Where we embed something from another site, such as a video player, it can set its own cookies. The SureCookie scan picks these up with everything else.
Your choices
The first time you visit, a banner asks what you allow. It is run by SureCookie, which holds every non-essential script back until you choose, rather than setting them and asking afterwards. Essential cookies are set either way. You can reopen the banner and change your mind at any time, and rejecting everything non-essential costs you nothing on this site.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing that may stop parts of the site working.
Children
This site is written for parents and guardians, not for children. No child books a class or holds an account here, and our advertising is aimed squarely at guardians.
No child’s information is ever passed to an advertising platform or used to build a profile. The cookies described above belong to the guardian browsing this site, not to the student who will sit in the class.
Changes
If we change what this site sets, we will update this page and the date at the top.
